Hello, I’m Lisa Farrar and I’m a health coach on a mission to help women who want to go plant-based to avoid disease and get in the driver's seat of their health, but who don’t know where to start and often experience resistance from the people around them.

Transitioning to a plant based diet means cutting out meat and animal products. Whether you're interested in going 90% or 100% plant based - I'm here to help!

Being plant based most of my life and helping others transition their diet, I get the things that tend to come up...

"I want to eat more vegetables, improve my health and lifestyle but my family isn't on board."
"Staying plant based is so hard socially, how am I suppose to enjoy the BBQ this weekend?"
"What in the world do I order at dinner tonight when there is no option for a plant based eater?"
"I just want some cake but there's eggs and dairy."
"My friend is paleo and she thinks I need to eat meat to be healthy."

I've been through it all and I've got the strategies to work through the challenges and come out shining on the other side.

Changing your diet to plant based could be the most important thing you do for your quality of life and the planet.

Here's what happens when you go plant based...

-Reduce inflammation in your body - inflammation leads to illness and disease
-Energy goes up and becomes more stabilized (no more afternoon crashes and lots more of doing the things you want to do)
-Skin begins to glow - this is because your body gets more of what it needs, whole foods, and it begins to heal from the inside-out
-Digestion begins to improve which means less bloat, less acid reflux, and regular bowel movements
-By reducing your animal product consumption - you're not contributing to the destruction of land, water, and resources
-Less harm is inflicted on innocent animals - plant based is truly a guilt free way of life

As a health coach, I want you to understand that subtle shifts in behavior can make a huge impact on your health and success as a plant based eater. Small changes add up in a big way.

My life’s work is to help you:

·         Understand how and where to get started with a plant based lifestyle - it's not always about the food

·         Learn to question what you're feeding your body and where your food is coming from

·         Create a plan that works for your life - it doesn't all have to happen overnight

·         Learn how to maintain newly developed healthy habits so they become behaviors that happen
          naturally and last for good

We do this by looking at all areas of your life that play into your well being, I get to know you and your lifestyle to give you feedback that’s appropriate and unique to you. My ultimate goal is to help you live healthy, happy, full of energy, and avoid the scary but preventable diseases.

Why am I so passionate?

I've been a plant based eater from the young age of 7 when I realized a farm animal wasn't much different than my pet dog and decided to go vegetarian. At the time, I didn't know or understand how to eat well as a vegetarian and I turned to lots of carbs. The carb overload and lack of important nutrients led to eczema, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux disease, bleeding ulcers, and a lot of doctor visits and prescriptions all by the time I was in high school.

In college, I studied Environmental Geography and one class in particular had quite the impact on me. It was an environmental agriculture class which made me question where my food was coming from and what was being done to it. As I started to learn about these things, I also started to take responsibility for my health because I knew some things had to change.

After a lot of self education, trial and error, and searching for answers, I was able to heal myself from the inside-out. No more doctor visits and no more prescriptions!

I wanted to help others understand the food-body connection to fight illness and disease and that's when I found health coaching. I went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition out of New York and have been coaching women as a Certified Health Coach since 2012. From there, I went on to study behavior change at Health Coach Institute and became certified in the Transformational Coaching Method at the Mastery Level in 2016.

But there's another side to the story...

I grew up in rural Ohio and lived in a small town full of meat and potato people, including my family. I was literally the only vegetarian I knew until I hit college. Not only did I have to learn how to eat plant based in a way that served my body when no one else ate this way, but I had to deal with a lot of lash back from those around me in the form of verbal abuse, harassment, put downs, and general disapproval.

On top of not really having anyone that understood my food choices, add in the struggle of never having healthy food options available going out to eat or having to go to a get together, it was a recipe for disaster over and over. I had to be resourceful and find my grit to make this all work and it wasn't always easy.

While I was always rooted in my values and decision to live a plant based lifestyle, it was tough to learn to handle opposing viewpoints when it came to food and how to stay healthy on the go and socially. I don't want others to struggle like I did when it comes to these things. That's why part of my mission is about helping others who want to go plant based learn how to be prepared for these types of situations because nothing is worse than being judged for what's on your plate or not having options at a get-together.
